GORAN KROPP MEMORIAL FUND | Established 2006 | "Its all upstairs."

Established in 2006, in honor of Goran Kropp’s unparalleled courage and ambition and his passion for adventure, the Goran Kropp Memorial Fund is established to support those who venture to challenge their inner core. For so many who love the outdoors Goran was, and still is, a true inspiration.
About Goran
Goran Kropp is recognized around the world for his epic 1996 adventure when he rode his bike 7,000 miles from Sweden to Nepal, climbed Everest alone without supplemental oxygen and biked home. He was a mountaineering prodigy and trained eight arduous years before attempting this unfathomable adventure. Goran's quote to me (Peter Woodring) when I asked him what it took to physically achieve what he did. "It's all upstairs... it's all in the mind."
Sadly, Goran fell to his death while rock climbing outside of Seattle Washington on September 30, 2002.
He moved to Seattle with his finance, Renata Chlumska, to train for a 10,000 mile kayaking and hiking circumnavigation of the United States. This trek around the US was simply going to be a warm-up for Goran's ultimate adventure. He wanted to sail solo from Seattle to the Antarctica, ski unsupported to the South Pole and back and sail home. Renata successfully completed her circumnavigation of the United States September 14th, 2006. It was a great accomplishment and a tribute to her beloved Goran. Renata now resides in Sweden.
In honor of Goran's unparalleled courage and ambition and for his passion for adventure, the Goran Kropp Memorial Fund is established to support those who venture to challenge their inner core. He was, and still is, a true inspiration.
