MICHAEL W. LOEB MEMORIAL FUND
The Michael W. Loeb Memorial Fund has been created with love by his wife and children to honor the memory of their beloved husband and father who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on August 9, 2006. All donations in Mike's honor made through this fund will go directly to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, a national non-profit organization that works to focus attention on the need to find a cure for pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. It has the highest mortality rate of any cancer and there is no effective early detection method. Mike was only 45 years old when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died nearly two years later.
We truly hope pancreatic research becomes a priority and that in the future no one will have to suffer from this awful disease.
ABOUT MIKE
Mike was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 24, 1958. He was the eldest son of 3 siblings. Mike received his formal education at the University of Florida and had been a proud Gator ever since. He was such a Gator fan he often bleed the colors orange and blue. He obtained a bachelors degree in accounting and went on to obtain his CPA license. Mike touched the lives of everyone he met and showered his friends and family with love and constant laughter.
Mike courageously battled and survived non-hodgkins lymphoma back in 1986. He also endured other tragedies in his life during that time but his energetic enthusiasm and positive outlook on life let him overcome these drawbacks. He was then blessed with beautiful triplet daughters and after a second marriage he had two beautiful boys. He devoted his life to his wife and children. Besides being a great father he was also a great cook, a romantic husband and an unconditional friend. He dedicated all his free time to his children including serving as a board member of the school advisory committee and coaching his sons' little league baseball and soccer teams.
In November 2004 Mike was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He underwent surgery, and months of chemotherapy and radiation. Because he had such determination to fight this disease he continued living his life as normal. Mike hardly missed any days from work, continued to coach and in view of his continued positive outlook he inspired many people and changed many lives. Anyone who had the privilege to cross paths with Mike became a better person thanks to him.
He is so dearly missed, but his memory and the sounds of his laughter will remain locked in our hearts forever. In his honor and those that have suffered from this unforgiving disease please help find a cure.
